2017 CityNet Congress Overview

The CityNet Congress, held once every four years, is the biggest gathering of CityNet members. It is a unique opportunity to meet face-to-face with CityNet members along with leaders and urban actors from across the Asia and the Pacific. At the Congress, CityNet will also elect its new set of officers. The Congress also features knowledge exchange and networking. The 2017 CityNet Congress will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

1. CityNet Legislative Meetings – The following three meetings will be held during the Congress

  • 35th Session of the Executive Committee

  • The 8th Session of CityNet General Council

  • 36th Session of the Executive Committee

2. Back-to-back Seminar

  • Mayors roundtable discussion

  • Cluster & National Chapter Meetings

  • Networking Sessions or Business Meeting with Prospective Private Sector Partners

  • Technical Visits / City Tours

This year’s congress will also mark the network’s 30th anniversary and is expected to convene approximately 300 international and local participants that include member cities, associate members and international organisations. This significant event will give us an opportunity to reflect on our journey together and to work collectively on finding the answer to the future challenges.
